River levels are expected to rise this evening in response to heavy rainfall. Based on the current forecast, Glusburn Beck is due to peak between 23:30 today, Wednesday 16 October, and 1 a.m Thursday morning. Levels are then expected to fall going into daylight hours Thursday, with the heaviest rain having moved away.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Glusburn Beck, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Cross Hills and Sutton-in-Craven.
Weather conditions are expected to improve tomorrow morning and no further flooding is expected.

River levels are rising on Glusburn Beck and its tributaries due to rainfall this evening, Saturday 09/12/2023, and into tomorrow.
Levels on Sutton Beck, in Sutton-in-Craven are rising quickly. A peak is also expected in Glusburn Bridge at 7.30 PM tonight, 9/12/2023.
Further rainfall is forecast tonight and into tomorrow, with weather remaining unsettled throughout the rest of the weekend. We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely.
Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.

River levels have risen as a result of persistent heavy rainfall overnight and through today. Consequently, flooding of roads and low-lying land is expected this afternoon, 17/11/22. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point, however there may be surface water issues locally. Further rainfall is forecast throughout the day but is expected to die away overnight. We currently expect river levels to peak between 14:00 and 15:00 today before starting to fall through this evening and overnight.

This second peak in river levels is likely to be higher than the one this morning, but we do not anticipate issuing flood warnings as a result of this rainfall. After river levels continued to fall through most of yesterday, 28/01/2021, river levels rose slightly again last night in response to a further band of rain which has now passed through the area. River levels on Earby and Glusburn Becks have now peaked, and are below the flood risk threshold.
Although there may be scattered showers in the early hours today, 29/01/2021, no further significant rain is forecast today. We therefore expect levels to continue to fall and will review the ongoing need for this Flood Alert in daylight hours.
